We’re on the plane just waiting for it to be de-iced. It’s been a fantastic trip, albeit a short one. It would interesting to come back in the summer as it would be like seeing it again for the first time.

Our final stop before going to the airport and heading back to Canada is the famous Blue Lagoon. This is Iceland’s most popular tourist attraction. It’s a giant pool formed from natural lava rocks and filled with the sanitized thermal run off water from the neighbouring industrial plant. He description makes it sound horrible but it’s really a nice...
Today we head home after our short but enjoyable trip. On our way out of of town, we stopped at the lighthouse on the edge of the city. This where we were last night around 10pm to try and see the northern lights. We did see them but they were extremely dim and not very colourful. Plus they only lasted approximately 10 minutes. The bones in the last photo I believe...
Tonight we had dinner at the Laundromat Cafe, a funky place downtown. And true to its name, it has a laundromat in the basement of the restaurant.
I had the meatballs and Eduardo had the salmon. He said it was the best salmon he’s every tasted. The photo with the “magazine covers” is actually the front page of their menu.
After the marina, we headed into town to pick up a few things. The sculpture on the beach is called the Sun Voyager, a dreamboat that is an ode to the sun. The ducks and swans were out in the next photo. There was a tiny area of the lake that wasn’t frozen that they were able to swim in. The sculpture of the man is just some street art we stumbled upon. And...
I wasn’t feeling well last night and woke up today with a cold and that achy feeling so we had a late start to the day. We decided to stick around our neighbourhood and see the sights nearby. The wind was relentless again so we were hopping in and out of the car a lot.
Our final stop before heading back to the hotel and ending our 9 hour day was Kerid Crater. I think it’s likely much more impressive in the summer as it looks like a round ice rink right now. Again, brutal winds, negative temps so it was a quick visit.
Our third stop was Gullfoss waterfall, just a short drive past Geysir. Again the wind was blistering and our faces were freezing so we stayed long enough to get a few shots and got out of there.
Stop number 2 is a tiny town called Geysir, where you guessed it, an active geyser lives. After parking, we headed up the hill to try to catch a glimpse of the geyser in action. The path was a short walk and super slippery. But the wind, the wind was almost unbearable. It was only -5 but with the wind, it felt closer to -13. It was so cold that both of our...
