Christ the Redeemer

We’ve been putting off going to the Christ the Redeemer statue because the weather has been pretty gloomy most of the trip. On Monday, things finally cleared up.
We left the hotel around 8:30am and got to the tram that goes to the top of the mountain where Redeemer lives. Unfortunately we didn’t realize how busy it would be and found out that the next train would be at 4:30pm.
Luckily there were other bus shuttle companies hanging around the tram station so we took one of those.
We caught a bus to a shop, where we paid for our trip. Then we caught another bus to the mid-way point. A short walk up to the Redeemer ticket office and we found that all their self-serve ticket kiosks were offline. So we had to wait 30 min in line for the regular ticket window. Then we found out that the tickets are timed departures so we had to wait another 50 minutes. When our ticket window opened we surprisingly joined another line to catch another shuttle bus up to the top. When we reached the top, we joined another short line up to scam our tickets. Finally we made it to the statue and it was huge. The statue height is 98 ft and the arm span is 92 ft. It was pretty spectacular. There were a ton of people up at the statue all trying to get a photo with their arms stretched out. We spent over an hour around the statue taking a ton of photos. The top half of the last photo on here shows what the view looked like when we arrived at the top. Just as we where leaving, we walked past the same spot and a cloud had rolled in, completely eliminating any view below.
