The Louvre Scrum

We woke up this morning to the sound of pouring rain and thunder. Definitely going to be an indoor day. During a break in the rain, we walked over to the Louvre which thankfully is only15 minutes from where we are staying. Everything I’ve read online about the massive lineups was true. People where snaked around the fountains next to the big pyramid. However, I...

Kids Playing In Fountain Near Eiffel Tower

While we were across the street from the Eiffel Tower taking photos of it from the best place in the city, we saw these kids cooling off by splashing around in it. I don’t think Eduardo and I would have gotten away with getting down to our underwear to do the same đŸ™‚

Dinner

Tonight we explored the area we’re staying in for a place to eat. There are so many little streets with unique places to eat. Every corner you turn has tons of busy restaurants, most with tables outside. We finally decided on one and sat down at a table right at the edge of the road. The tables are very close together so it feels like you’re eating with a...

Eiffel Tower

Since the weather turned into such a nice day, we changed our plan of just wandering around the city and went to the Eiffel Tower. We decided to follow the suggestion I’d read online of walking up the first two levels of the tower to avoid the gigantic line ups for the elevator only route. When we got close, I looked up the instructions again and we headed to...

Paris Apartment

Our place in Paris is much bigger than our London place. It’s in this cool little alley in the Saint Germain des Pres area of the 6th  arrondissement of the city. The purple door in the photo brings you into a dark, creepy passageway that ends at an inner courtyard. Then up one flight of stairs and we’re home. It’s still a studio, but has a lot more...

Bonjour Paris!

At 2pm, we left St. Pancras station in London on the Eurostar train to Paris. It took 2 hours, 20 minutes to get here. The portion of the journey that goes under the sea, only lasts 20 minutes. I also discovered that the train racks in the UK side seem to be much smoother that the France side. We definitely felt more bumps and heard more track noise in France. After...

So Long London

Well, we left London today. We had a great week and while the weather could have been sunnier, we had a great time just the same. As I mentioned when we first arrived, our room was really small. Just before we checked out, I took a couple photos. In the first one, you’ll see our kitchen and dining room. The next photo is the bedroom and living room. I forgot to...

We Will Rock You!

For our last night in London we went to another show. This time it was We Will Rock You with Queens music. I found it a little slow for the first 20 minutes and the story was a little confusing at first, but the music was great. We had a little problem with the two losers in front of us who wanted to talk through every scene and then text their friends about it. I...

The Shard

The afternoon weather turned out to be incredible so after we left Greenwich, we got off at London Bridge station and walked over to The Shard, Europe’s tallest building, which just opened in April. Public viewing is from the 72nd floor. They split the journey into 2 elevator rides up to the 69th floor. And once you’re there, you walk the other 3 floors...
